Baitul Hikmah

History of the madrasa

How a small maktab by the Buriganga grew into a full Qawmi madrasa since 2004.

Baitul Hikmah Model Madrasa began in 2004 as a small maktab in a tin-roofed room beside the Aganagar mosque, with one hafiz teacher and twenty-two children learning the Nurani Qaida.

A madrasa takes shape

With the duas and support of local well-wishers, the Hifzul Quran division opened in 2006 and the first students completed their hifz in 2009. The Kitab division followed, class by class, until the first batch of Dawrah-e-Hadith graduated in 2019.

Milestones

  • 2004 – the maktab opens beside the Aganagar mosque
  • 2006 – Hifzul Quran division and the first boarding room
  • 2011 – affiliation with Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh
  • 2015 – the three-storey Umar Hall for kitab students

  • Today – around five hundred students, more than half of them boarders

Our way

We follow the Dars-e-Nizami syllabus with Bangla, English and mathematics taught alongside, so that our graduates can serve both the deen and the society they live in.
